How to Use a Gang Sheet Builder to Save Money on DTF Transfers
Share
If you're ordering DTF transfers, one of the smartest ways to lower your cost per print is to use a gang sheet. Instead of ordering each design on its own sheet, you pack multiple designs — or multiple copies of the same design — onto a single large sheet. You only pay for the sheet size, not per design.
Our DTF Gang Sheet Auto Builder makes this easy, even if you've never done it before.
What Is a Gang Sheet?
A gang sheet is a single transfer sheet that contains multiple designs arranged together. Print shops use gang sheets to maximize the use of every inch of film. For you, that means more designs for less money.
Example: Instead of ordering 6 individual 4"x4" transfers at full price each, you pack all 6 onto one 22"x24" gang sheet and pay for the sheet — often saving 40–60% compared to individual orders.
Step 1: Prepare Your Artwork Files
Before you open the builder, get your files ready:
- Format: PNG with a transparent background is ideal. PDF and SVG also work.
- Resolution: 300 DPI minimum for sharp prints. Higher is better.
- Color mode: RGB (not CMYK — DTF printers use RGB color profiles).
- Bleed: Leave a small buffer around your design — don't crop right to the edge of the artwork.
Step 2: Open the Gang Sheet Auto Builder
Go to our DTF Gang Sheet Auto Builder product page and select your sheet size. Common sizes include:
- 22" x 24" — great for a mix of small and medium designs
- 22" x 48" — ideal for larger orders or bigger designs
- Custom sizes — if you need something specific, reach out
Step 3: Upload Your Designs
Upload your PNG files directly into the builder. You can upload multiple designs at once. The builder will display each design as a moveable tile on the sheet canvas.
Step 4: Arrange and Resize
Drag your designs around the canvas to fill the sheet efficiently. Tips for maximizing space:
- Rotate designs to fit awkward shapes into gaps
- Duplicate designs if you need multiple copies of the same print
- Nest designs close together — leave about 0.25" between each for clean cutting
- The builder shows you how much of the sheet is used so you can fill it as efficiently as possible
Step 5: Review and Add to Cart
Once you're happy with the layout, review the preview carefully — check that all designs are fully on the sheet, nothing is clipped, and the spacing looks right. Then add to cart and check out. Your gang sheet will be printed and shipped ready to press.
Pro Tips for Gang Sheets
- Group by press temperature: If you're pressing onto different fabric types, note which designs go on which garment so you use the right settings.
- Label your designs: If you have many similar designs, add a small text label outside the design area so you can identify them after cutting.
- Order extras: Gang sheets are cheap per print — order a few extra copies of your most popular designs so you always have inventory on hand.
